Landscapes & Gardens
Garden paintings & Landscape paintings
My passion for flowers and nature naturally leads me to gardens and landscapes. There are times when I like to zoom out a bit from the close focus of my flower paintings and capture a bigger space. My garden paintings reflect my passion for the tangled borders of the English garden. Landscape paintings are always inspired by the light and shade and pattern which nature creates around us.
Wandering around RHS gardens like Wisley and Rosemoor or exploring the spaces people create through the NGS scheme, I am always inspired. Creating a garden paintings always inspires me. Tangled masses of flowers, grasses and foliage, light and shade, splashes of colour. Each of them make me draw a breath and relax. Sitting on hidden benches just taking in the wonder of what is around me refreshes my soul and rest the body. Capturing these feelings in Garden paintings is a joy.
You’ll find me, sketchbook in hand, scribbling away, capturing a moment in time. wandering around Wisley or sitting under a tree gives me the recharge and peace I often need. Private moments with nature.
Taking my sketches back to the studio I’ll dive into recreating the mass of colour and structure in a garden painting.
I’m frequently asked to paint a place or spot in a garden which brings back memories or special times for a client. It’s always exciting to go and discover a space someone else enjoys and tune in to the feeling they got there. recreating that emotion for them is always something I love to do.
In the same way the greater landscape captures my imagination. I am particularly inspired by skies and sunsets, which always take my breath away. A moment in time inspires me to create a landscape painting
living in Devon now has surrounded me with big skies, rolling seas and moody moors. Don’t be surprises to see more of these popping up in my work!
