An Affair to Remember
It seems roses were very much the stars of the Hampton Court Flower Show in 2010. With this in mind, and the rose’s place in the affections of the British public, Anita Nowinska has created a new painting called ‘Summer Affair’.
At Hampton Court Flower Show ‘Drama Queen’ was a very popular choice with visitors. Inspired by one the best actresses of her generation, Dame Judi Dench, the red and white striped rose was a best-seller throughout the five days of the RHS show.
Whilst many know her for her television and film work, Dame Judi is equally famous for her work at the RSC and the Shakespeare themed ‘Midsummers Night’s Dream’ Rose Marquee would no doubt have won her seal of approval. In fact many of the props used were provided by the Royal Shakespeare Company.
A beautiful selection of roses were on display, some grown for colour, others for fragrance. ‘Joie de Vivre’ was a highlight and it has been awarded the accolade of Rose of the Year for 2010 by leading rose experts.
Inspired by these beautiful roses, Anita has produced a new piece called ‘Summer Affair’. This is created using her pastel on sandboard technique and features a delicate lemon yellow rose contrasted perfectly by a deep purple background. A classic colour combination that feels fresh and vibrant as well as bold and exciting.
‘Summer Affair’ is available as an original but also as an open edition print and also as part of Anita Nowinksa’s range of greetings cards – which are available to buy online.
